The pattern behind the list
Look at the last digit of each answer. From 3 × 1 to 3 × 10 it goes like this, and then the same pattern repeats every ten facts all the way up to 3 × 30:
- 3
- 6
- 9
- 2
- 5
- 8
- 1
- 4
- 7
- 0
Working out big facts
You do not need to learn all 30 facts by heart. Use the method for the 3 times table instead: Split 3 into 2 and 1: work out the 2s and the 1s, then add them.
Split 3 into 2 and 1. 2 × 30 = 60 and 1 × 30 = 30, so 3 × 30 = 60 + 30 = 90.
3 × 30 = 60 + 30 = 90
